He joined the Ophthalmology program in McGill University, Canada in July 2001 and graduated in 2006 from the Royal College of Surgeons Canada.

He was awarded with the first clinician price in 2003 in McGill. Following that, he obtained a fellowship in cornea and anterior Segment from the University of Montreal in 2007.  He completed his Executive Masters in Healthcare Administration in 2010 (Distinction with Honour).

He has been working in Zayed Military Hospital. He established the Cornea transplant program at Zayed Military Hospital in 2008.  He also introduced the up to date cornea procedure to Zayed Military Hospital.  He has performed more than 1,500 refractive procedures. He is actively involved in teaching in UAE University and various residency programs in the UAE.  He has a special interest in Keratoconus.  He is the Chief Medical Officer of ZMH.

Dr. Ali Fadlallah is a Fellow of the Harvard Medical School and holds an Ophthalmology specialized diploma from the prestigious Sorbonne University in Paris. He became a European board certified ophthalmologist after his training in the Hotel-Dieu of Paris, one of the oldest hospitals in Europe. He holds a Medical Diploma from the Saint-Joseph University in Beirut from which he graduated as Laureate and Magna cum Laude. He has also a Master in Science, and a Master in Public Health.

Dr. Fadlallah is specialized in Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive surgery. He has extensive experience in treating keratoconus and corneal disease needing corneal transplants and Keratoprosthesis. He is an IntraLase (Intra LASIK) certified surgeon. He has surgical international ophthalmology experience in humanitarian missions (North Africa and Asia) where he goes to operate difficult and advanced cataracts in drastic conditions.

He is an author of more than 32 peer-reviewed papers, and 70 international conferences and posters. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS), the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS), the French Ophthalmologic Society (SFO), and the French Refractive Surgery Society (SAFIR).

He is an official reviewer for several international Ophthalmology journals (Journal of Refractive Surgery and Journal of cataract and Refractive surgery). Dr Fadlallah holds a faculty appointment at the Saint-Joseph University, Faculty of Medicine, Beirut as a Lecturer and Instructor and a Cornea Consultant position in affiliated hospitals.

Jarade is a graduate of Harvard Medical School with two certificates of fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery.  He has 10 years’ experience in the practice and research of cornea, cataract and refractive surgery and corneal transplants, as well as being a certified trainer in IntraLase technology and a pioneer of IntraLasik technology. Dr. Elias has made major contributions to the development of new concepts of keratoconus treatment.

Dr. Elias is also credited with the discovery of a new treatment for the blinding disease DLK stage IV. Dr. Anwar has over 14 years of experience in Cornea and external eye disease. He has a special interest in Cataract, Cornea and Refractive surgery. Dr Anwar trained in the UK and undertook his Corneal Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital London; he holds fellowships from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London as well as from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons from Glasgow. He is on the GMC specialist register for Ophthalmology.

He is an active member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He previously held a post as an Associate Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Neuroscience at Newcastle University.

His work on lamellar corneal transplantation has earned him several accolades including Best papers of session at the ASCRS and the UKISCRS, along with two Golden Ribbons from the AAO.

He is an active educator, both at a postgraduate and undergraduate level, including several of his articles being featured in international publications including Cornea, Clinical Ophthalmology Journal and the Journal of Refractive Surgery. He has also presented at several international conferences including ESCRS, ARVO, ASCRS, and the AAO.

He is actively involved in philanthropic work with the Graham Layton Trust, London, a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to preventing blindness in Pakistan.

Dr. Al Messabi has been known to be a pioneer when it comes to new developments in his field. Dr. Al Messabi finished his 5 years Ophthalmology Residency training from McGill University, Canada. He then spent one year further to finish his Cornea and Refractive Surgery clinical fellowship at University of Montreal in 2007, after which he joined Sheikh Khalifa Medical City as Ophthalmology Consultant. During his tenure he established the Corneal Transplant program for SEHA in the same year. 2 years later, he founded the Residency program and served until august 2012 as Residency Program Director and Head of Ophthalmology Department. After that, he joined Samaya Eye Hospital in Abu Dhabi as a consultant.

Dr. Al Messabi is the President of the Emirates Society of Ophthalmology and a very active member in Education and Research. He teaches Medical students in UAE University and has always given lectures in all the major, international conferences like AAO, ASCRS, ESCRS, WOC at different cities around the world.

He returned to Dubai, United Arab emirates in 1998 to start a career in Ophthalmology. In 2002, Dr. Naqi started his residency program training at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He was inaugurated at the Royal College of Surgeons in Canada and awarded the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons and became a Canadian board certified ophthalmologist.

Dr. Naqi continued his subspecialty fellowship training at the University of Toronto, Canada where he successfully completed a year of research fellowship in glaucoma and advanced anterior segment surgery, then followed that with a year in surgical fellowship in glaucoma and advanced anterior segment with the world renowned Surgeon, Dr. Ike Ahmed in 2009.

He is currently a Consultant glaucoma and anterior segment surgeon at Dubai Hospital and the Executive Director of North American Lasik and Eye Surgery Center, Dubai.

Dr. Naqi established and currently running an ambulatory surgical center which provides surgical solutions to refractive errors, using latest generation excimer laser machines. Samuel Navon, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Eye Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Navon worked at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, the world’s largest free-standing eye hospital, where he served as Director of the Cornea and Cataract Division, Director of Medical Education and also helped build the region’s first fellowship program in ophthalmology. During this time, he trained over 50 ophthalmologists who continue to make enormous contributions both inside and beyond the Arabian Peninsula. Dr. Navon returned to the US in 2000 to practice as a corneal and cataract surgeon in Western North Carolina.

Dr. Navon’s international medical experience includes charitable work in Honduras, Haiti, China and Bangladesh. This has included invitations as a visiting surgeon in Orbis programs on board the world’s only flying eye hospital. In 2013, he co-founded the Global Eye Project, an organization which is integrally involved with medical education and the construction of an eye center in Haiti.

His interests include the treatment of medical and surgical disorders of the ocular surface, such as keratoconus, inflammation and corneal scars. He also specializes in no-stitch/no-needle cataract surgery, refractive surgery and the use of custom lens implants to reduce the need for glasses and contact lenses.

He received his medical degree from the University of Rochester after receiving his PhD in biophysics from the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles. While completing his PhD, Dr. Navon published ground breaking papers on the biochemistry of vision and his thesis was recognized as best in his department. Following a year of medical internship, he completed both his ophthalmology residency and fellowship training in corneal surgery at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts.

He also received dedicated Refractive Surgery training from some of the pioneers and forefathers of LASIK and laser eye surgery, Professor Ioannis Pallikaris and Professor Michael O’Keeffe. He went on to take up a consultant position at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital, Dublin prior to returning to Dubai.

Dr. Gauba has published over 25 articles in leading international peer-review journals. He has received many accolades for his work and is routinely asked to review articles and provide press releases as a result of his advances in the world of Ophthalmology. His Masters in Science in Medical Research from the University of Oxford and Leeds also gives him additional experience in this field. Dr. Pichi’s experience in both Europe and the US has contributed to his diverse expertise in disease presentations in the fields of retina and uveitis. His clinical and research work has contributed to innovations in the fields of retinal imaging and the treatment of inflammatory eye diseases. He was part of the European Study Group that discovered the application of mineralocorticoid receptors antagonists for the oral treatment of central serous chorioretinopathy. He was also a leader in employing a non-invasive new imaging modality such as Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography to assess the status of the iris vessels in patients with vascular diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and vasculitis.

Dr. Pichi’s current research interest is the use of multimodal imaging of the retina in order to understand the etiology of various pathologies and to accurately guide treatment. In the fields of uveitis and ocular inflammation, his efforts are in creating objective ways of measuring inflammation which would provide a better outcome for patients.

Dr. Pichi graduated summa cum laude from the Alma Mater Studiorum of the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy and went on to pursue his ophthalmology residency at the University of Milan, Milan, Italy, where he trained in cataract surgery. During his training, he developed an interest in the fields of medical retina and uveitis, and became an intern at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK.

He was also Senior Scientist at the Department of Genetics at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center during the same period. Before living in the Middle East, Dr. Khan was in private practice on Long Island, New York, and had a university appointment in New York City.

In addition to being well-experienced in the medical and surgical management of pediatric eye disease, Dr. Khan is a regional expert in Ocular Genetics. His clinical and research interests are the management and genetics of ocular developmental disorders and strabismus.

Dr. Khan has supervised and trained scores of residents in Ophthalmology and more than 30 Fellows in Pediatric Ophthalmology clinically, surgically, and academically.  He continues to serve as an external examiner to certify competency of ophthalmologists-in-training.

Earlier, after completing 5 years residency from Aligarh Muslim University in 2003, Dr. Hayat Khan undertook his anterior segment training at prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences for phacoemulsification and later in Nepal for small incision cataract surgery. He served as Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology at esteemed Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2004-05. He was then appointed with Orbis International and Government of Guyana to serve Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for providing large scale cataract and glaucoma surgical initiative and operated thousands of patients. While continuing to work as a Consultant in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Guyana, he gained experience as a general ophthalmologist but his interest in pediatrics ophthalmology was strengthened alongside his developing interest in adult motility disorders.

In 2010, he developed a state-of-the-art tertiary care pediatrics ophthalmic service in Una, India. He spent few years as a Consultant in Saad Specialist Hospital, Eastern Province, where he provided pediatric ophthalmic services at tertiary care services (including ROP screening & treatment) and advanced strabismus surgeries where he is especially talented in doing squint surgeries using adjustable sutures. Dr. Abdulla Naqi received his medical degree from the royal college of surgeons in Dublin, Ireland in1997. He went afterwards to do an internship year at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Ireland, and became a fully registered Doctor at the Irish Medical Council.

He returned to Dubai, United Arab emirates in 1998 to start a career in Ophthalmology. In 2002, Dr. Naqi started his residency program training at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He was inaugurated at the Royal College of Surgeons in Canada and awarded the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons and became a Canadian board certified ophthalmologist.

Dr. Naqi continued his subspecialty fellowship training at the University of Toronto, Canada where he successfully completed a year of research fellowship in glaucoma and advanced anterior segment surgery, then followed that with a year in surgical fellowship in glaucoma and advanced anterior segment with the world renowned Surgeon, Dr. Ike Ahmed in 2009.

He is currently a Consultant glaucoma and anterior segment surgeon at Dubai Hospital and the Executive Director of North American Lasik and Eye Surgery Center, Dubai.

Dr. Naqi established and currently running an ambulatory surgical center which provides surgical solutions to refractive errors, using latest generation excimer laser machines. He formed an international team of staff from the American contents to provide surgical treatment of wide range of ophthalmic conditions.

In addition to being well-experienced in the medical and surgical management of pediatric eye disease, Dr. Khan is a regional expert in Ocular Genetics. His clinical and research interests are the management and genetics of ocular developmental disorders and strabismus.

Dr. Khan has supervised and trained scores of residents in Ophthalmology and more than 30 Fellows in Pediatric Ophthalmology clinically, surgically, and academically.  He continues to serve as an external examiner to certify competency of ophthalmologists-in-training.

Dr. Khan maintains strong contacts with Academic Ophthalmology in the United States. Earlier, after completing 5 years residency from Aligarh Muslim University in 2003, Dr. Hayat Khan undertook his anterior segment training at prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences for phacoemulsification and later in Nepal for small incision cataract surgery. He served as Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology at esteemed Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2004-05. He was then appointed with Orbis International and Government of Guyana to serve Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for providing large scale cataract and glaucoma surgical initiative and operated thousands of patients. While continuing to work as a Consultant in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Guyana, he gained experience as a general ophthalmologist but his interest in pediatrics ophthalmology was strengthened alongside his developing interest in adult motility disorders.

In 2010, he developed a state-of-the-art tertiary care pediatrics ophthalmic service in Una, India. He spent few years as a Consultant in Saad Specialist Hospital, Eastern Province, where he provided pediatric ophthalmic services at tertiary care services (including ROP screening & treatment) and advanced strabismus surgeries where he is especially talented in doing squint surgeries using adjustable sutures. He is one of the few ophthalmologists in the world with dual training from United Kingdom and Canada.  He is subspecialty trained in the management of Paediatric Cataracts, Paediatric Glaucoma, Retinopathy of Prematurity, Retinoblastoma, Paediatric Anterior Segment Reconstruction, common Paediatric Oculoplastics, Strabismus or Squint, Adult Strabismus (with Adjustable sutures) and Adult Cataract Surgery.

After graduating from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Pakistan he undertook his basic ophthalmic surgical training in Ireland at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital, Dublin and then Waterford University Hospital, Waterford (2005-2009). He completed his higher surgical training in Ophthalmology at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Manchester, with advanced specialty training in Paediatric Ophthalmology (2009- 2014) and then worked as a Paediatric Ophthalmology Consultant at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport NHS Trust (2014). To gain further experience he did a fellowship from the world renowned Hospital for Sick Children (Sickkids), Toronto and was awarded the J.D Moran award for being the most outstanding fellow at that institution (2015).

He has three-post graduate degrees from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists London and received his Certificate of Completion of Specialty Training (CCST) from the General Medical Council, UK in 2013.  He holds a postgraduate degree from Edge-Hill University in Medical Education.

He is a member of the American Academy of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London, UK.

In addition to his clinical work, he has published important research in the peer reviewed press and is a sought after presenter at international Ophthalmology conferences. He is actively involved in formulating guidelines for Neonatal screening for Retinopathy of Prematurity in the UAE. In his free time he is involved in providing charitable eye services to the underprivileged in Pakistan.

Dr. Prasan Rao has over 20 years of experience in the management of ophthalmology patients. He is specialised in procedures such as scleral buckling, pneumatic retinopexy, pars plana vitrectomy (23 & 25 gauge – MIVS) for complicated retinal detachments, intravitreal Lucentis/Avastin/Eylea/Ozurdex injection, retinal laser photocoagulation, management of intraocular tumours, uveitis, and retinopathy of prematurity.

After completing his medical degree at King Edward Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, with distinction in Ophthalmology, he pursued his post-graduate training at L.T.M.General Hospital and Sir J.J. Group of Hospital, Mumbai. He was among the first resident ophthalmologists to regularly perform non-phaco small incision cataract surgery and phacoemulsification in 1995-96 in Mumbai. He underwent an extensive and rigorous Fellowship in vitreo-retinal diseases and surgery at the esteemed Sankara Nethralaya & Vision Research Foundation (Chennai, India) and also completed his Fellowship in Ophthalmology from The Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Dr. Rao joined Dubai Hospital in June 2003, and was instrumental in developing the vitreo-retinal unit. He was involved not only in clinical and surgical work, but also in surgical training of peers, clinical research, publications in peer-reviewed journals, and scientific paper presentations.

Prior to joining Mediclinic Welcare Hospital, he was the first to introduce scleral buckling for management of retinal detachments in retinopathy of prematurity in 2003, and intravitreal antiVEGF injections for active ROP in 2008 in the UAE. In 2006, he was the first to perform combined half-fluence photodynamic therapy and intravitreal lucentis injection for wet AMD in the gulf region. In 2009, he setup the ROP registry in Dubai and Al Wasl Hospitals.

He joined Mediclinic Welcare Hospital in October 2009. In 2010, he was credited as the first surgeon in UAE to perform lens sparing vitrectomy for Stage IV retinopathy of prematurity. He is also one of the first retinal surgeons to perform 25gauge vitrectomy for treatment of complex retinal detachments and for treatment of vitreoretinal complications of proliferative diabetic retinopathy. He has performed well over 2000 cataract surgeries (phacoemulsification) and over 5000 posterior segment surgeries including combined phaco-vitrectomies. He is a currently Medical Director, Specialist Ophthalmologist & Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Medcare Eye Center.

He is a Fellow in Vitreo-Retinal Diseases and Surgery from Sankara Nethralaya & Vision Research Foundation, Chennai, India, and Fellow in Ophthalmology from The Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. He is board certified by the National Board for Ophthalmology (India). He is a Member of European Society of Vitreoretinal Surgery (EVRS), an International Member of American Academy of Ophthalmology  (AAO), Member of American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS).
